Exclusive Tours - NAVRATI FESTIVAL - WORLD’S LONGEST DANCE FESTIVAL

NAVRATI FESTIVAL – WORLD’S LONGEST DANCE FESTIVAL
Season : Late September early October 12 days dance festival in the State Of Gujarat on the Western Coast)
Duration : 08 Days

This festival marks the 9 days war between Goddess Durga and the Demon King Mahasasur. When the Demon King went on a rampage of atrocities amongst the Celestial bodies in heaven, the Gods were in a helpless situation, as the powers to King Mahasasur were betowed on him by the Gods themselves. The Gods with their collective powers created Goddess Parvati ( consort of Lord Shiva ) in new image as Goddess Durga with 10 hands, each of them holding a weapoan, to destroy the demon. The war lasted 9 days with Goddess riding on a lion as her chariot and finally destroying the Demon King by killing him with her arrow. The first day of Navratri is also known as Mahalaya and these 9 days are considered very auspicious by the Hindus who observe strict abstinence from pleasure and follow a vegetarian diet. The dance festival celebrates the joyace over the destruction of the demon king who possessed super human powers and had the strength to destroy celestial bodies.
